Charlie Backfish the indefatigable host of WUSB-FM’s “SUNDAY STREET” radio program presents in concert at the LONG ISLAND MUSEUM,
1200 Route 25A in Stony Brook Village THE SMALL GLORIES plus GENE CASEY.

The Small Glories are the Canadian roots duo of Cara Luft, a founding member of The Wailin’ Jennys, and JD Edwards. According to Paste Magazine, “they may soon join duos like Mandolin Orange and Shovels & Rope among the ranks of Americana prestige.” The Small Glories duplicate and reinforce each others’ many strengths and yet allow their distinct personalities to shine through, resulting in a live show that is as heartwarming as it is hilarious and as finger-picking proficient as it is relatable. NPR music says that “Luft’s work on the clawhammer banjo is to die for, while Edwards’ guitar and vocal harmonies deepen and enrich the duo’s sound.” The Small Glories will bring with them new songs from their highly anticipated sophomore album, “Assiniboine & the Red,” due on June 28th on Compass Records. Gene Casey is a treasure of Long Island’s music scene. With his group, The Lone Sharks, Gene brought his blend of roots, rock and swing to the East End and to Long Island airwaves with several all-original albums, Guitar In The Rain being his most recent. Gene’s songs have also been heard on television and film soundtracks. Gene will play this show in a trio setting. (www.genecasey.com) Advance sale tickets are $22 at www.sundaystreet.org through Friday, July 5. Tickets at the door are $27 (cash only).
